How to create your free Gemini API key

Gemini is Google's AI. Its free tier is enough to write your recipe articles, and you don't need a credit card.

  1. Open Google AI Studio → API keys and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Accept the terms the first time you open AI Studio.
  3. Click Create API key. If Google asks for a project, choose Create a new project.
  4. Copy the key. It is a long code that usually starts with AIza.
  5. In PublishKit, open AI key, keep Google Gemini selected, paste the key and click Save key.

You should see Working next to your key. That's it.

Keep it private. Treat this key like a password: don't share it or post it online. You can delete it any time in AI Studio and create a new one.

Good to know

  • Free limits: the free tier has a daily request limit. PublishKit spreads your articles over the day to stay under it.
  • Privacy: on the free tier, Google may use requests to improve its products. Recipe articles are public content anyway.
  • Already have Groq or NVIDIA? Choose it in the provider list instead.
